Tillamook

The county’s commercial and service center

The county's commercial and service center

Tillamook is the county seat and the practical center of life for much of Tillamook County. It provides the area’s largest concentration of grocery stores, healthcare services, schools, professional offices, restaurants, retailers, and government services.

For buyers, Tillamook offers one of the county’s broadest real estate selections. Housing includes starter homes, traditional neighborhoods, older homes with renovation potential, newer construction, manufactured homes, duplexes, acreage, farms, and rural properties in the surrounding valleys.

Tillamook works especially well for people who want access to the coast without living directly in a heavily visited beach town. Beaches, bays, rivers, forests, and the Three Capes Scenic Route remain close by, while daily errands and services are generally more convenient.

Major attractions

Tillamook Creamery

The Tillamook Creamery is the county’s best-known attraction. Visitors can take a free self-guided tour, learn about dairy production, view portions of the cheesemaking process, visit the farm exhibit, sample products, shop for gifts, and enjoy cheese-based meals and ice cream in the dining hall.

Tillamook Air Museum

(CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO STORM DAMAGE) Located in a surviving World War II blimp hangar, the Tillamook Air Museum highlights the region’s aviation and military history. The immense wooden hangar is an attraction in its own right.

Tillamook County Pioneer Museum

The museum occupies the former county courthouse and contains three floors of exhibits covering Indigenous history, pioneer life, natural history, transportation, logging, dairy farming, military history, and the development of Tillamook County.

Blue Heron French Cheese Company

Blue Heron is a longtime family-friendly stop featuring specialty foods, cheese, gifts, picnic areas, and farm animals. It gives visitors another look at the county’s agricultural and food-producing heritage.

Latimer Quilt and Textile Center

The Latimer Quilt and Textile Center showcases quilting, weaving, spinning, and traditional textile arts. Exhibits and demonstrations help preserve an important part of the county’s creative and cultural history.

Downtown Tillamook

Downtown Tillamook includes independent restaurants, shops, professional services, historic buildings, public spaces, and the Pioneer Museum. It is also home to community gatherings and seasonal events.
